Hydrogen-Anion-Induced Carrier Recombination in MAPbI3 Perovskite Solar Cells

Yuhang Liang et al.

Summary: Identification and passivation of defect-induced electron-hole recombination centers are crucial for improving efficiency of hybrid perovskite solar cells. Hydrogen interstitials, particularly H-i(-), formed under I-poor synthesis conditions, act as detrimental deep-level defects leading to efficient recombination and decreased cell performance. Br doping can mitigate atomic displacement caused by H-i(-) and suppress deep localized states, providing useful information for defect engineering to enhance solar cell performance.

Minimizing hydrogen vacancies to enable highly efficient hybrid perovskites

Xie Zhang et al.

Summary: Hydrogen vacancies induce non-radiative losses in methylammonium lead iodide perovskites synthesized under iodine-poor conditions, while they are less detrimental in formamidinium-based hybrid perovskites. The high density of hydrogen vacancies in hybrid perovskites acts as efficient non-radiative recombination centers, impacting device performance significantly. Minimizing the incorporation of hydrogen vacancies is crucial for achieving optimal performance in hybrid perovskites.

Electrode-induced impurities in tin halide perovskite solar cell material CsSnBr3 from first principles

Yuhang Liang et al.

Summary: In this study, the stability, transition energy levels, and diffusion of impurities from commonly used electrodes in CsSnBr3 were systematically investigated using density functional theory calculations. It was found that impurities from metal electrodes can effectively diffuse into CsSnBr3 and degrade device performance, serving as nonradiative recombination centers. This research provides valuable insights for identifying suitable electrodes for optoelectronic applications.

Recent progress in tin-based perovskite solar cells

Jiupeng Cao et al.

Summary: Organic-inorganic halide perovskite solar cells have shown high efficiency, but many contain toxic lead. Tin-based perovskites are a promising alternative, with the highest efficiency over 13%. This review discusses device design, physical properties, challenges, film preparation techniques, and chemical substitutions to improve the optoelectronic properties of tin-based perovskites and reduce lead content for high-performance and environmentally friendly PSCs.
