Strong coupling and pressure engineering in WSe2-MoSe2heterobilayers

Juan Xia et al.

Summary: This study achieves high-quality 2H-stacked WSe2-MoSe(2) heterostructures through a two-step chemical vapor deposition method, demonstrating effective tuning of interlayer interactions by hydrostatic pressure. The research reveals strong coupling nature and pressure-induced evolution of interlayer excitons, providing new opportunities for exploring and tuning van der Waals heterostructures with strong interlayer coupling.

Enhanced tunable second harmonic generation from twistable interfaces and vertical superlattices in boron nitride homostructures

Kaiyuan Yao et al.

Summary: Broken symmetries in materials and interfaces lead to strong even-order nonlinear optical responses. Van der Waals heterostructures allow for control over symmetry at crystal interfaces. Our study demonstrates highly tunable second harmonic generation and polarization patterns in twistable vdW systems, paving the way for efficient frequency conversion architectures.

Density-independent plasmons for terahertz-stable topological metamaterials

Jianfeng Wang et al.

Summary: Researchers have revealed a unified mechanism for generating unusual carrier-density-independent terahertz plasmons in different topological states through deriving a simplified form of plasmon frequencies. These plasmons, independent of carrier density, can be applied in designing topological superlattice and multiwalled carbon nanotube metamaterials. The high spatial confinement and quality factor of these terahertz plasmons make them suitable for stable terahertz applications.
