FCTcon: Dynamic Control of Flow Completion Time in Data Center Networks for Power Efficiency

Summary: In this paper, a dynamic FCT control strategy called FCTcon is proposed for optimizing the power consumption of data center networks (DCN) while ensuring the desired FCT performance. Experimental results show that FCTcon can improve the FCT performance of DCN and achieve more power savings compared to existing schemes.

The proposed system allows SBSs serving more computing tasks to stay active, meeting task completion deadlines requested by mobile users and keeping cloud response time within a predefined limit. By selecting active and sleeping SBSs centrally, the proposed scheme aims to save power while considering delay constraints of both cloud and mobile devices.
