Effective CO2 adsorption at low pressure over nitrogen-enriched porous carbons, derived from melamine-loaded polyaniline

Jong Min Park et al.

Summary: Porous carbons derived from melamine/PANI mixture pyrolyzed at low temperatures showed better performance in CO2 adsorption, particularly MPC-550 at 550°C. The high N content and narrow pores of MPC-550 led to superior selectivity and adsorption capacity compared to PC-550.

A reticular chemistry guide for the design of periodic solids

Hao Jiang et al.

Summary: Reticular chemistry has enabled the synthesis of diverse metalorganic frameworks and covalent organic frameworks through the linking of well-defined molecular building blocks into crystalline extended frameworks. The methodologies in this field are based on building blocks, targeted nets, and isoreticular chemistry, with emphasis on edge-transitive nets for the design of MOFs. Emerging concepts such as merged-net approach and net-coded building units show potential in synthesizing intricate or multi-component MOFs. Challenges and opportunities exist in the modification, expansion, and contraction of building blocks for the assembly of increasingly intricate frameworks.

Overcoming Metastable CO2 Adsorption in a Bulky Diamine-Appended Metal-Organic Framework

Bhavish Dinakar et al.

Summary: This study demonstrates that MOFs materials in carbon capture technology exhibit tunable, step-shaped CO2 adsorption profiles, with the half-capacity state actually being a metastable intermediate that converts slowly and cannot be observed in traditional measurements. By conducting experiments under specific conditions, the metastable state can be avoided and full CO2 capacity absorption achieved.

MOF-74 type variants for CO2 capture

Jong Hyeak Choe et al.

Summary: Carbon capture and storage (CCS) aims to deal with the carbon dioxide (CO2) emitted by power plants, and next-generation adsorbents like metal-organic framework (MOF) adsorbents are gaining attention for their high surface area, tunable pore size, and low heat capacity. Among MOFs, MOF-74 type analogs are known for their high CO2 adsorption performance due to open metal sites, and research is focused on enhancing their CO2 capacity and selective adsorption through modifications of organic linkers and metal sites.
