Incidence of Asymptomatic and Symptomatic Influenza Among Healthcare Workers: A Multicenter Prospective Cohort Study

Thomas Benet et al.

Summary: This study found the high occurrence of asymptomatic and paucisymptomatic influenza among healthcare workers, representing a significant portion of the influenza burden. This emphasizes the importance of systematically implementing infection control measures among healthcare workers to prevent nosocomial transmission of influenza, regardless of respiratory symptoms.

Effect of Antigenic Drift on Influenza Vaccine Effectiveness in the United States-2019-2020

Mark W. Tenforde et al.

Summary: This study investigated the vaccine effectiveness against emerging influenza viruses during the 2019-2020 season in the United States. The results showed that the vaccine provided good protection against B/Victoria viruses, but lower effectiveness against A(H1N1)pdm09 viruses, mainly due to vaccine mismatch caused by antigenic drift. The study observed the impact of antigenic drift on vaccine protection, with significant protection still observed even in drifted years.

Co-infection of SARS-COV-2 and Influenza A Virus: A Case Series and Fast Review

Xuan Xiang et al.

Summary: The study investigated co-infection of SARS-COV-2 and IAV, finding that patients with co-infection showed similar clinical manifestations and radiological images compared to those infected with SARS-COV-2 alone. Co-infection may lead to more severe clinical conditions, but did not result in longer hospital stays.
