Characterization and evaluation of novel sustainable polymers derived from renewable rosin

Amal A. Soliman et al.

Summary: This study aimed to prepare low-cost biomaterials from renewable natural resources (rosin) and evaluate their properties. The prepared rosin derivatives showed excellent moisture resistance and good potential for pharmaceutical coating applications. Recent research interest has been focused on exploring the effects of rosin derivatives in various drug delivery systems.

The Influence of Tea Tree Oil on Antifungal Activity and Pharmaceutical Characteristics of Pluronic(R) F-127 Gel Formulations with Ketoconazole

Magdalena Wroblewska et al.

Summary: Fungal skin infections pose a significant clinical challenge, with traditional antifungal drugs being supplemented by the potential of tea tree oil and ketoconazole. The use of Pluronic(R) F-127 gel and organogel-based formulations has increased in recent years, offering promising bioadhesive properties when combined with TTO. The designed gels, particularly with TTO, showed improved drug release and antifungal activity, making them favorable for local delivery systems in treating skin fungal infections.

An in vitro gel-based system for characterizing and predicting the long-term performance of PLGA in situ forming implants

Zhuoxuan Li et al.

Summary: A gel-based release testing system was developed to characterize the long-term in vitro behavior of in situ forming implants. This system discriminated between formulations containing different co-solvents and was able to predict real-time release. UV imaging in the gel-based system allowed for monitoring the micro-environmental pH changes of the implants, providing detailed evaluation and prediction of the in vitro performance of long-acting injectables.

Physical properties and bioactivity of clove oil-loaded solvent exchange-induced in situ forming gel

Jongjan Mahadlek et al.

Summary: Clove oil (CO) demonstrated efficient antimicrobial activities in an in situ forming gel (IFG) system, with higher CO concentrations enhancing density, viscosity, and antimicrobial properties. Increasing CO content also slowed down phase separation of the gel, leading to a slower drug release rate.
