The findings highlight the importance of understanding the systemic factors that shape the periodontal microbiome for patient management and treatment.

Probiotics and nutritional supplements have also been found to provide anti-inflammatory benefits in the treatment of periodontitis.

ON or OFF: Triggered therapies from anodized nano-engineered titanium implants

Summary: Surface modification of titanium implants using TiO2 nanotubes (TNTs) through electrochemical anodization has shown promising outcomes for enhancing osseointegration and antibacterial functions. However, further research is needed to address cytotoxicity concerns and overcome research challenges in order to achieve clinical translation of triggered therapies from modified titanium implants using various triggers.

Summary: The study showed that tumor-associated immune and genomic biomarkers of response to combined immune checkpoint blockade (CICB) in melanoma patients were similar to those of monotherapy, while toxicity from CICB was associated with a more diverse peripheral T-cell repertoire. Additionally, analysis of gut microbiota revealed a higher abundance of Bacteroides intestinalis in patients experiencing toxicity, along with an upregulation of the inflammatory factor IL-1 beta in colitis samples.
