The effects of molecular weight of hyaluronic acid on transdermal delivery efficiencies of dissolving microneedles

Yuquan Chi et al.

Summary: This study investigates the relationship between the molecular weight of hyaluronic acid (HA) and the transdermal delivery efficiency of microneedles (HA-MNs). The results show that the molecular weight of HA affects the mechanical properties of HA-MNs and the transdermal delivery of rhodamine B. The 74k-HA-MN, with medium mechanical strength, exhibits the highest transdermal delivery efficiency and tunable transdermal delivery characteristics. Furthermore, HA-MNs demonstrate excellent biocompatibility and skin recovery.
