Strategic assessment of COVID-19 pandemic in Bangladesh: comparative lockdown scenario analysis, public perception, and management for sustainability

Summary: The study focused on the public perception of comparative lockdown scenarios and their impact on sustainable development goals and the strategic management of the COVID-19 pandemic in Bangladesh. Results showed that maintaining partial lockdown with social distancing and public health guidelines is the best strategy, but inclusive and transparent risk communication is necessary when the government withdraws the partial lockdown. Recovery and strengthening of various sectors under the new normal standard of life following health guidelines and social distancing are crucial for the nation's sustainability.

Relaxing to 50% of pre-COVID effective contacts may result in a peak prevalence of 31-38% of the population within 3-4 months of initial relaxation.

COVID-19 Related Psychological Distress, Fear and Coping: Identification of High-Risk Groups in Bangladesh

Summary: The study in Bangladesh revealed that factors such as being born in Bangladesh, having graduate education, distress due to employment change, financial impact of COVID-19, multiple comorbidities, and recent healthcare provider visits were associated with higher levels of psychological distress and fear of COVID-19. Additionally, factors such as being female, frontline worker, having pre-existing psychiatric problems, being a smoker, providing care to a known/suspected COVID-19 patient, recent overseas travel history with self-quarantine, self-isolation without COVID-19, or being COVID-19 positive, and having high levels of fear of COVID-19 were related to higher psychological distress. It was also found that higher fear levels were associated with moderate to high levels of psychological distress.
