A Q-Learning-Based Topology-Aware Routing Protocol for Flying Ad Hoc Networks

Muhammad Yeasir Arafat et al.

Summary: Flying ad hoc networks (FANETs) have emerged for civil and military applications in recent years. Designing a routing protocol for FANETs is challenging due to the dynamic topology, node mobility, and limited energy of unmanned aerial vehicles (UAVs). Existing topology-based and location-based routing protocols have limitations, so this study proposes a novel QTAR protocol that considers two-hop neighbor nodes and uses Q-learning to adaptively adjust routing decisions. Simulation results show that QTAR outperforms existing protocols in various scenarios.
