Controlling the Crystallographic Packing Modes of Pt1Ag28 Nanoclusters: Effects on the Optical Properties and Nitrogen Adsorption-Desorption Performances

Xi Kang et al.

Summary: By altering counterions as different polyoxometalates, the crystallographic packing modes of Pt1Ag28 nanoclusters were manipulated, resulting in remarkably distinguishable crystalline-state optical properties and nitrogen adsorption-desorption performances. The combination of intercluster and intracluster control achieved a comprehensive manipulation over the M-29(SR)(18)(PR'(3))(4) nanocluster system, enabling a better understanding of structure-property correlations at the atomic level.

Ultrabright Au@Cu-14 nanoclusters: 71.3% phosphorescence quantum yield in non-degassed solution at room temperature

Yongbo Song et al.

Summary: This study reports a method to achieve high phosphorescence from metal nanoclusters in non-degassed solution, with a core-shell structure leading to efficient photoluminescence. Unlike other materials, this phosphorescence is less sensitive to air, which is important for lighting and biomedical applications.

Au11Ag6 nanocluster: Controllable preparation, structural determination, and optical property investigation

Chuanjun Zhou et al.

Summary: The structure/composition of nanoclusters plays a crucial role in determining their physicochemical properties. Two different Au-Ag nanoclusters were successfully obtained in this study by controlling the Au/Ag molar ratios, and their structures were confirmed using various techniques. The Au11Ag6 nanocluster exhibited good stability and strong red photoluminescence in solution.

Double-helical assembly of heterodimeric nanoclusters into supercrystals

Yingwei Li et al.

Summary: DNA has long been used as a template for constructing helical assemblies of inorganic nanoparticles, but achieving helices without biological ligands is challenging. Atomically precise nanoclusters protected by ligands demonstrate hierarchical structural complexity, similar to biomolecules. The newly synthesized homodimeric and heterodimeric gold nanoclusters self-assemble into superstructures, with heterodimeric clusters forming more complex helical superstructures driven by van der Waals interactions. The surrounding ligands on the clusters contribute to the assembly through paired steric interactions.
