Charge-carrier collective motion in germanium detectors for beta beta-decay searches

Summary: The time analysis of signals induced by charge carrier drift in high purity germanium detectors provides information about event topology. With millions of charge carriers produced in a typical event, their initial distribution, diffusion and Coulomb repulsion impact the time structure of the signal. Through a comprehensive study of these effects, their impact on event discrimination capabilities for three geometries in the Legend experiment for neutrinoless double-beta decay is evaluated.
