Dual-branch combination network (DCN): Towards accurate diagnosis and lesion segmentation of COVID-19 using CT images

Kai Gao et al.

Summary: Developing accurate and efficient diagnostic tools for COVID-19 is crucial due to limited medical resources, and AI-aided tools have shown promise. A novel dual-branch combination network (DCN) was developed for COVID-19 diagnosis, achieving high classification accuracy and sensitivity in lesion detection. The DCN also provides good interpretability on infection loci and an online CT-based diagnostic platform for COVID-19 is now available.

SCOAT-Net: A novel network for segmenting COVID-19 lung opacification from CT images

Shixuan Zhao et al.

Summary: Automatic segmentation of lung opacification from CT images has great potential for quantifying COVID-19 infection quickly and accurately, but faces challenges such as complex features, small differences between infected and healthy tissues, and CT image noise. The proposed SCOAT-Net, inspired by biological vision mechanisms, enhances attention learning and feature extraction in infected regions through specially designed spatial and channel attention modules. Experimental results show that SCOAT-Net outperforms several state-of-the-art image segmentation networks and demonstrates acceptable generalization ability.

Automatic COVID-19 lung infected region segmentation and measurement using CT-scans images

Adel Oulefki et al.

Summary: The study aims to design and evaluate an automatic tool for automatic COVID-19 Lung Infection segmentation and measurement using chest CT images. Extensive computer simulations show better efficiency and flexibility of this end to end learning approach on CT image segmentation with image enhancement, comparing to state of the art segmentation approaches like GraphCut, Medical Image Segmentation (MIS), and Watershed.
