ULTRASONIC CAVITATION IN WASTEWATER TREATMENT FROM AZO DYE METHYL ORANGE

Yurii Sukhatskiy et al.

Summary: This study focuses on reagent treatment of methyl orange mono azo dye under the action of acoustic vibrations in the ultrasonic range, showing a positive effect of cavitation phenomena on the mineralization rate of the dye. A schematic technological scheme for cavitation-reagent mineralization of methyl orange was developed based on analyzed information sources and experimental results, with the main apparatus being a hydrodynamic jet cavitator suitable for industrial scale.

Unveiling metabolic characteristics of an uncultured Gammaproteobacterium responsible for in situ PAH biodegradation in petroleum polluted soil

Xixi Cai et al.

Summary: This study investigated the biodegradation of naphthalene in petroleum polluted soils using stable-isotopic probing (SIP), amplicon sequencing, and metagenome binning. An uncultured Gammaproteobacterium sp. was identified as the key NAP degrader, with its genome containing genes related to various metabolic pathways. The findings provide new insights into the mechanisms of in situ PAH biodegradation and shed light on the cultivation of non-culturable microorganisms by combining SIP and metagenome binning.

Biochar Derived from Agricultural Wastes as a Means of Facilitating the Degradation of Azo Dyes by Sulfides

Qilin Han et al.

Summary: This study utilized biochar materials derived from widely sourced agricultural wastes to promote the reduction of dyes by sulfides, with RCB800 showing the best degradation rate. Biochar, with its abundant surface functional groups and large specific surface area, is effective in binding sulfides and dyes and promoting degradation reactions through oxygen-containing functional groups.
