Drug-Loaded Mucoadhesive Patch with Active Delivery and Controlled Releasing Ability

Summary: This paper proposes a mucoadhesive patch for gastrointestinal tracts that utilizes a magnetically actuated capsule for active drug delivery, hyperthermia, and controlled drug release. The patch demonstrates excellent adhesion to the gastrointestinal tract and contains magnetic nanoparticles and anticancer drug doxorubicin. Through an alternating magnetic field (AMF), the patch enables hyperthermia and controlled release of the drug. Additionally, the patch can be delivered to multiple intestinal target lesions using a magnetically actuated capsule. Experimental tests and analyses confirm the feasibility of delivering the patch into the gastrointestinal tract and demonstrate the therapeutic effect of the patch in killing tumor cells.
