Smart Dressings for Wound Healing: A Review

Isabella Barros Almeida et al.

Summary: This study provides an overview of sensors incorporated into wound dressings for assessing and managing healing parameters, but reveals a lack of research in this area. New studies are needed to assess sensors that allow both wound monitoring and drug application in a single dressing, to provide better and more cost-effective treatment for wounds.

Rapid Detection of Pathogens in Wound Exudate via Nucleic Acid Lateral Flow Immunoassay

Anna Brunauer et al.

Summary: A nucleic acid lateral flow immunoassay was developed for direct detection of isothermally amplified DNA, combined with fast sample preparation, to detect pathogens in wound exudate. The method showed high sensitivity and specificity, with a short turnaround time, making it suitable for clinical applications.

Intelligent Patches for Wound Management: In Situ Sensing and Treatment

Yuqiu Wang et al.

Summary: Intelligent wound patches have potential properties such as ultra-adhesion, self-healing ability, biosensing, antibacterial, and anti-inflammatory effects. There is a need for further exploration in in situ sensing and intelligent drug delivery, and new strategies are crucial in this regard. Challenges exist in this field, but there are promising opportunities for future developments.

A portable SERS sensor for pyocyanin detection in simulated wound fluid and through swab sampling

Yuki Tanaka et al.

Summary: A portable SERS sensor for detecting PYO in simulated wound fluid and bacteria samples was developed. Metal nanoparticles showed different Raman enhancement effects, with AgNPs being the most effective. The detection protocol had a LOD of 1.1 μM for AgNPs, 10.9 μM for AgAuNPs, and 17.7 μM for AuNPs.
