Second- and third-order optical susceptibilities across excitons states in 2D monolayer transition metal dichalcogenides

Lucas Lafeta et al.

Summary: Semiconducting transition metal dichalcogenides exhibit significant nonlinear optical effects. By using second-harmonic generation and four-wave mixing spectroscopy, we characterized the nonlinear optical properties of MoS2, MoSe2, and WS2 monolayers. We found that trions and excitons enhance the nonlinear optical response, and demonstrated the potential of using two-dimensional materials for nonlinear optoelectronic and photonic applications.

Nonlinear transport in Weyl semimetals induced by Berry curvature dipole

Chuanchang Zeng et al.

Summary: This study systematically investigates the BCD in 3D WSMs using lattice Weyl Hamiltonians and finds that the nonzero BCD and its related important features are not dependent on the contribution from the Weyl nodes, but rather on the part of the Fermi surface lying between the Weyl nodes. Additionally, specific experimental signatures of BCD-induced transport in WSMs, such as nonlinear anomalous Hall, Nernst, and thermal Hall effects, are predicted and can be directly checked in experiments.
