Long-term coal chemical looping gasification using a bimetallic oxygen carrier of natural hematite and copper ore

Siqi Liu et al.

Summary: Coal chemical looping gasification (CCLG) is a promising technology with high resource utilization rate and environmental protection properties, requiring suitable oxygen carriers and optimized operating conditions for coal conversion and H2&CO production. This study tested a Cu-Fe bi-ore oxygen carrier and found that the optimal gasification conditions were at 950 degrees C with a oxygen carrier-to-coal mass ratio of 3:1 and steam rate of 0.08 ml/min, achieving a syngas yield of 58 mmol/g, 75.2% syngas selectivity, and 85.3% carbon conversion.

Recent Advances of Oxygen Carriers for Chemical Looping Reforming of Methane

Ming Tian et al.

Summary: This review discusses recent advances in oxygen carriers for chemical looping reforming of CH4. The focus is on metal-based OCs, composite OCs, and catalytic OCs, with specific discussions on the influence of OC structure on reaction and design strategies for tailored OCs. Challenges and suggestions for future research on outstanding OCs for CLR of CH4 are also provided.

Selective catalytic reduction of NO with C3H6 over CuFe-containing catalysts derived from layered double hydroxides

Nini Wen et al.

Summary: In this study, CuxFey-600c catalysts derived from CuxFey-LDHs precursor were investigated for C3H6-SCR under excess oxygen conditions. It was found that the synergistic effect between Cu and Fe in the catalysts led to superior performance compared to single metal catalysts. The strongest synergistic effect was observed in Cu0.71Fe0.29-600c catalyst, which exhibited the highest NO conversion at 300 degrees C.

Characterisation of Australian ilmenite oxygen carrier during chemical looping combustion of Victorian brown coal

Doki Yamaguchi et al.

Summary: The study developed a compact fully looped chemical looping reactor and found that the CLC performance increased with increasing operation time over 36 hours, as indicated by the increase in the CO2/CO molar ratio. The morphology changes and ash interaction of the Australian ilmenite did not noticeably affect the CLC performance or operation during continuous operation.

Ni-, Co-, and Mn-Doped Fe2O3 Nano-Parallelepipeds for Oxygen Evolution

Arnab Samanta et al.

Summary: A unique synthesis route was developed to prepare different metal-doped iron oxide parallelepipeds via a low-temperature light-driven bottom-up chemistry approach devoid of any template molecule to be explored as an electrocatalyst in a basic medium for the oxygen evolution reaction (OER). The hierarchical parallelepiped-like morphology of M-Fe2O3 was evolved due to assembly of several small nanorods, which exhibited enhanced catalytic activity compared to the pristine Fe2O3. Among all of the as-prepared catalysts, Ni-Fe2O3 showed outstanding stability and OER activity due to the higher electronegativity of Ni compared to that of Mn or Co.
