Jiaqian Luo et al.

Summary: Valorization of crop wastes, especially lignin-containing cellulose micro/nano-fibrils (LCMNF) from corncob residues, has shown promising potential. Different pretreatment methods, such as alkali-sulfite and alkali-hydrogen peroxide, have been explored to affect the reactivity of lignin and properties of resulting LCMNF. Overall, these pretreatments reduce water vapor permeability and oxygen permeability of resulting films, with alkali-sulfite showing the best performance.
