Research Note: An overview on distribution of fowl adenoviruses

I Kiss et al.

Summary: Fowl adenoviruses (FAdV) from 38 countries were partially sequenced and classified, with FAdV-E and FAdV-D being the most common species. They are often associated with concurrent infections in poultry, including inclusion body hepatitis and hepatitis hydropericardium syndrome. Avian infectious bronchitis virus was the most frequent coinfection with all FAdV species.

Summary: The study demonstrated that the supplementation of MMDA significantly improved the adverse effects of AFB(1) and OTA in broilers, including increased feed conversion ratio, reduced biochemical alterations, decreased intestinal pH values, and lower E. coli counts in the ceca of birds.

A Case of Infectious Laryngotracheitis in an Organic Broiler Chicken Farm in Greece

Vasileios Tsiouris et al.

Summary: This report documents the first outbreak of infectious laryngotracheitis in young organic broiler farm in Greece, caused by a wild strain of the virus. Contrary to previous beliefs, the outbreak was not caused by vaccine strains and affected younger birds. By implementing biosecurity measures and vaccination, the disease was effectively controlled and no recurrence has been reported.
