Diversity-Oriented Synthesis of Fluoromethylated Arenes via Palladium-Catalyzed C-H Fluoromethylation of Aryl Iodides

Yiming Du et al.

Summary: This article reports a versatile and expeditious method for site-selective C-H fluoromethylation of aryl iodides via Pd/norbornene cooperative catalysis. It can serve as a robust toolbox for the diversity-oriented synthesis (DOS) of fluoromethylated arenes. The method features the use of low-cost industrial raw material CH2IF as the fluoromethyl source, excellent functional group tolerance, and broad ipso termination scope. It can also be applied to the late-stage modification of biorelevant molecules.

Radical Addition Enables 1,2-Aryl Migration from a Vinyl-Substituted All-Carbon Quaternary Center

Zexian Li et al.

Summary: An efficient method for photocatalytic perfluoroalkylation of vinyl-substituted all-carbon quaternary centers involving 1,2-aryl migration has been developed, generating valuable multisubstituted perfluoroalkylated compounds in a single step. Mechanistically, photoinduced alkyl radical addition to an alkene leads to migration of a vicinal aryl substituent from its adjacent all-carbon quaternary center, followed by generation of a C-radical bearing two electron-withdrawing groups and reduction by a hydrogen donor to complete the domino sequence.

Photocatalytic Generation of π-allyltitanium Complexes via Radical Intermediates

Fusheng Li et al.

Summary: This study reports a novel photocatalytic strategy for the generation of pi-allyltitanium complexes, allowing for the rapid access to valuable homoallylic alcohols through a three-component allylation reaction with 1,3-butadiene and carbonyls. The exceptional regio- and diastereoselectivity provided by dual photoredox/Ti catalysis is comparable to that of the Cr-catalyzed Nozaki-Hiyama-Kishi allylation reaction.

Selective 1,2-Aminoisothiocyanation of 1,3-Dienes Under Visible-Light Photoredox Catalysis

Weisi Guo et al.

Summary: This study reports a highly chemo- and regio-selective 1,2-aminoisothiocyanation reaction of 1,3-dienes using N-aminopyridinium salts and TMSNCS under mild photoredox catalytic conditions. The selective formation of products is attributed to the facile isomerization of allyl thiocyanates to allyl isothiocyanates under photocatalytic conditions, offering potential applications in the synthesis of allyl isothiocyanates.

Photoredox Catalytic Three-Component Amidoazidation of 1,3-Dienes

Dan Forster et al.

Summary: Despite the potential for the synthesis of functionalized allylic azides, only limited synthetic routes have been developed. A three-component 1,2-amidoazidation of 1,3-dienes has been reported, showing high efficiency in producing 1,2-amidoazidation products. Reduction of the mixture significantly enriches one of the isomers, thanks to the facile 1,3-azide shift of the allyl azides under dynamic kinetic conditions.

Three-component three-bond forming cascade via palladium photoredox catalysis

Peter Bellotti et al.

Summary: A highly modular radical cascade strategy based on radical cyclisation/allylic substitution sequence has been described, achieving efficient synthesis between alkyl/aryl bromides, 1,3-dienes, and various nucleophiles. Palladium phosphine complexes play a crucial role in this reaction, enabling 1,4-selectivity and stereocontrol to deliver carbocyclic and heterocyclic structures with important functional groups. Additionally, a flow chemistry approach was applied for the first time in palladium-photocatalysed endeavors involving radicals.
