Current status and future directions of self-assembled block copolymer membranes for molecular separations

Chao Lang et al.

Summary: Polymeric membranes are an efficient and promising alternative to thermal separation methods, separating mixtures based on molecular size or chemical affinity. Self-assembled block copolymer membranes offer precise control over nanoscale structure, pore size, and chemical versatility, but face a significant hurdle in terms of domain size features. Future directions include strategies such as polymer post-functionalization, self-assembly of oligomers, liquid crystals, random copolymers, or incorporation of artificial/natural channels within block copolymer materials.

Zwitterionic hydrogel for sustained release of growth factors to enhance wound healing

Zecong Xiao et al.

Summary: The study developed FGF2-loaded SBMA hydrogels, which were found to be more effective in delivering FGF2 for wound healing compared to PEG hydrogels. In vitro studies demonstrated that SBMA hydrogels could successfully prolong the release of FGF2, maintaining its bioactivity, and in vivo investigation showed that SBMA hydrogels could accelerate wound regeneration by promoting various healing processes. Overall, SBMA hydrogels show promise as substitutes for PEG hydrogels in delivering FGF2 for wound regeneration.
