Determination of perturbative QCD coupling from ALEPH τ decay data using pinched Borel-Laplace and Finite Energy Sum Rules

Cesar Ayala et al.

Summary: In this study, the perturbative QCD (pQCD) coupling was determined using ALEPH tau - decay data. The methods involved were double-pinched Borel-Laplace Sum Rules and Finite Energy Sum Rules, with evaluation methods including CIPT, FOPT, and PV. The extracted MS coupling value was found to be 0.3116, which is considered as the main result.

Lattice-motivated QCD coupling and hadronic contribution to muon g-2

Gorazd Cvetic et al.

Summary: We present an updated version of a QCD coupling that satisfies various physical conditions, from high momenta to low momenta, and apply it to the analysis of semihadronic tau decay and muon anomalous magnetic moment. By evaluating the Adler function and regulating V-channel higher-twist OPE terms, we achieve a correct value a(mu)(had(1)). This analysis leads to a restriction on the value of the QCD coupling constant alpha(s)( M-Z(2); (MS) over bar) between 0.1171 and 0.1180, ensuring acceptable fit quality to various sum rules.

Leading hadronic contribution to the muon magnetic moment from lattice QCD

Sz. Borsanyi et al.

Summary: The standard model of particle physics describes the majority of experiments and observations involving elementary particles, with a long-standing discrepancy concerning the anomalous magnetic moment of the muon. Ongoing experiments aim to reduce measurement errors, theoretically attributed to the leading-order hadronic vacuum polarization contribution, to distinguish between experimental measurements and predictions. The developed methods using ab initio quantum chromodynamics and quantum electrodynamics simulations favor experimentally measured values over those obtained using dispersion methods, with potential for increased precision as computer technology advances.

On the difference between FOPT and CIPT for hadronic tau decays

Andre H. Hoang et al.

Summary: This article reviews the difference between the Borel representations of tau hadronic spectral function moments obtained with the CIPT and FOPT methods. The findings explain the discrepancy in the behavior of the FOPT and CIPT series, which represent a major part of the theoretical uncertainties in current strong coupling determinations. The results also imply different OPE corrections for FOPT and CIPT.

Strong coupling from an improved τ vector isovector spectral function

Diogo Boito et al.

Summary: The study combines results from different experiments to obtain a new and more precise spectral function for determining the strong coupling constant at the tau mass scale. The FOPT prescription provides a result of alpha(s)(m(tau)) = 0.3077 +/- 0.0075, corresponding to alpha(s)(M-Z) = 0.1171 +/- 0.0010 at the Z mass.
