Occupational health hazards and risks in the wind industry

Summary: As the wind farm sector grows, it brings about new materials, technologies and processes that expose workers to increased and unique occupational risks. Existing research mainly focuses on noise, electromagnetic fields, shadow flicker, epoxy and styrene, while other potential hazards such as vibration and welding fumes have not been adequately addressed. Further research is needed to study the combined risks and hazards faced by workers in all lifecycle stages of wind energy production.
