Somatostatin receptor imaging with [68Ga]Ga-DOTATATE positron emission tomography/computed tomography (PET/CT) in patients with nasopharyngeal carcinoma

Liang Zhao et al.

Summary: This study found that [Ga-68]Ga-DOTATATE PET/CT has promising imaging capabilities in patients with NPC, with a high detection rate of SSTR2 expression and significantly higher uptake levels in primary and metastatic lesions compared to [F-18]FDG. This can help optimize the diagnosis and treatment strategies for NPC.

Update from the 5th Edition of the World Health Organization Classification of Head and Neck Tumours: Tumours of the Ear

Ann Sandison

Summary: The recently published 5th Edition of the World Health Organisation Classification of Head and Neck Tumours shows few changes in nomenclature for ear and temporal bone lesions, and limited developments in molecular pathogenesis compared to other sites. However, there has been an increase in the number of entries for tumors of the ear and temporal bone, and some lesions previously included in the 4th Edition have been excluded while others specific to this site have been included.

Somatostatin receptor 2 expression in nasopharyngeal cancer is induced by Epstein Barr virus infection: impact on prognosis, imaging and therapy

Matt Lechner et al.

Summary: This study reveals that somatostatin receptor 2 is induced by the Epstein-Barr virus in nasopharyngeal carcinoma and plays a key role in the diagnosis, imaging, targeted therapies, and prognosis of the disease.

SSTR2 in Nasopharyngeal Carcinoma: Relationship with Latent EBV Infection and Potential as a Therapeutic Target

Oscar Emanuel et al.

Summary: Nasopharyngeal carcinoma is a malignant epithelial tumor primarily found in Asia and associated with poor outcomes when detected at a late stage. Treatment options mainly include radiotherapy and chemotherapy, which can have significant side effects. Recent advances in understanding the molecular biology of the disease have highlighted the potential of somatostatin receptor 2 as a key tumor biomarker and target for improved diagnosis and therapy.

What's behind 68Ga-PSMA-11 uptake in primary prostate cancer PET? Investigation of histopathological parameters and immunohistochemical PSMA expression patterns

Jan H. Ruschoff et al.

Summary: The study identified parameters such as PSMA(%neg), infiltrative growth pattern, smaller tumor size, and WHO/ISUP grade group 2 as being associated with lower Ga-68-PSMA-11 uptake in prostate cancer. These findings could serve as the basis for future biopsy-based biomarker development for achieving personalized, tumor-tailored imaging approaches.

Treatment with somatostatin analogues and PRRT in metastatic middle ear adenoma with neuroendocrine features

Joana Lima Ferreira et al.

Summary: Middle ear adenomas with neuroendocrine features (ANEF) are rare and can be treated with surgery and external beam radiation therapy (EBRT) to control the disease, while long-acting somatostatin analogues (SSAs) and peptide receptor radionuclide therapy (PRRT) may play a role in metastatic cases.
