The Impact of Internal Compensatory Mechanisms on Musculoskeletal Pain in Elite Polish Sitting Volleyball Players - A Preliminary Study

Anna Zwierzchowska et al.

Summary: The study evaluated the impact of maximal muscular strength and fat mass on musculoskeletal pain and spinal curvature deviations in Polish sitting volleyball players. The results showed that the lower back, upper back, and neck were the most common painful areas. Fat mass influenced the depth of spinal curvatures and could cause neck and lower back pain.

Differences in Change of Direction Speed and Deficit Between Male and Female National Rugby Sevens Players

Tomas T. Freitas et al.

Summary: The study found that male rugby players outperformed females in speed-power assessments and change of direction tasks, with males showing larger COD deficits and higher sprint momentum. There were significant relationships among COD velocities and among all COD deficits in both sexes, indicating similar ability to change direction independently of gender.

Effect of Compensatory Mechanisms on Postural Disturbances and Musculoskeletal Pain in Elite Sitting Volleyball Players: Preparation of a Compensatory Intervention

Eliza Gawel et al.

Summary: This study aimed to investigate the impact of compensatory mechanisms on spinal curvature deformity and musculoskeletal pain in sitting volleyball players. Results showed that the neck, lower back, and upper back were the most commonly reported painful areas, with 76% of participants reporting spinal deformities. Additionally, thoracic hyperkyphosis and lumbar hyperlordosis were the most common spinal curvature deformities, and they were correlated with more severe lower and upper back pain.

Variability of Body Build and Physiological Spinal Curvatures of Young People in an Accelerated Longitudinal Study

Jacek Tuz et al.

Summary: The study found significant variability and relationships in body build and posture characteristics among young adults over the past 10 years. Statistically significant changes were observed in parameters such as waist circumference and hip weight in men and women, as well as in lumbar lordosis and thoracic kyphosis angles. Gender differences were also shown in body characteristics.
