Diagnostic value of diffusion-weighted imaging with synthetic b-values in breast tumors: comparison with dynamic contrast-enhanced and multiparametric MRI

Isaac Daimiel Naranjo et al.

Summary: The study assessed the impact of adding synthetic b-values to DWI for tumor visibility and breast cancer detection. Results showed that synthetic b-values 1200-1500 s/mm(2) were preferred for lesion conspicuity, especially in dense breast tissue. DWI was more specific but less sensitive and accurate than DCE-MRI for breast cancer detection.

Breast arterial calcifications as a biomarker of cardiovascular risk: radiologists' awareness, reporting, and action. A survey among the EUSOBI members

Rubina Manuela Trimboli et al.

Summary: Among EUSOBI respondents, over 80% claimed awareness of the cardiovascular significance of BAC and over 60% included BAC in the report. Qualitative BAC assessment predominates. About 40% of respondents who report on BAC investigate cardiovascular history and/or refer the woman to a cardiologist in the case of severe BAC burden.

Diffusion-weighted Imaging Allows for Downgrading MR BI-RADS 4 Lesions in Contrast-enhanced MRI of the Breast to Avoid Unnecessary Biopsy

Paola Clauser et al.

Summary: The study evaluated the use of a predefined ADC cutoff to downgrade BI-RADS 4 lesions on contrast-enhanced MRI of the breast, which led to a significant reduction in unnecessary biopsies by about one-third. The results indicated that an ADC cutoff of >= 1.5 x 10(-3) mm(2)/second had high sensitivity in detecting breast lesions.

Diffusion-Weighted Magnetic Resonance Imaging for Breast Cancer Screening in High-Risk Women: Design and Imaging Protocol of a Prospective Multicenter Study in Korea

Hee Jung Shin et al.

Summary: Interest in unenhanced MRI screening for breast cancer is growing due to concerns about gadolinium deposition and high cost. DWIST is the first prospective multicenter study comparing the performance of DW MRI and conventional imaging for breast cancer screening in high-risk women, currently in the patient enrollment phase.
