Understanding attitudes towards intellectual property from the perspective of design professionals

Xu Sun et al.

Summary: This study examines the attitudes of design professionals towards IPR in China through qualitative contextual interviews with 49 Chinese designers and design managers. The research reveals different levels of IPR awareness, perceptions of IPR law enforcement effectiveness, and how ethical beliefs and climates can influence attitudes towards IPR. Findings suggest that motivations in design work can impact IPR awareness and attitudes. A theoretical model incorporating these factors is proposed for future empirical studies.
