Icephobicity and durability assessment of superhydrophobic surfaces: The role of surface roughness and the ice adhesion measurement technique

K. Maghsoudi et al.

Summary: The study fabricated superhydrophobic silicone rubber surfaces with ultra-water repellency and icephobic properties through micro compression molding and atmospheric pressure plasma treatment, producing surfaces covered by micro-nanostructures of differing sizes. The smaller surface micro-nanostructures led to a greater reduction in ice adhesion by favoring less ice interlocking with the surface asperities. Under harsh environmental conditions, the surfaces maintained water contact angles and contact angle hysteresis, confirming their resistance to severe chemical and mechanical damage.

Metal-Organic-Framework-Derived Nanostructures as Multifaceted Electrodes in Metal-Sulfur Batteries

Rui Yan et al.

Summary: Metal-sulfur batteries are considered promising future energy storage systems due to their high theoretical energy density, but their practical applications are hindered by challenges such as shuttle effects and low conductivity of sulfur species. Recently, metal-organic frameworks-derived nanostructures have emerged as efficient multifaceted electrodes in MSBs, showing high surface area and molecular/atomic-level reactive sites. This review discusses the advancements in designing MOF-derived electrodes and their impact on electrochemical properties, providing guidance for the future development of fast-kinetic and robust MSBs in broad energy fields.
