Copper Coordination Chemistry of Sulfur Pendant Cyclen Derivatives: An Attempt to Hinder the Reductive-Induced Demetalation in 64/67Cu Radiopharmaceuticals

Marianna Tosato et al.

Summary: A series of Cu2+ complexes formed by cyclen derivatives with sulfur pendant arms were studied for their potential as chelators for copper radioisotopes. Various experiments were conducted to evaluate the stoichiometry and stability of these complexes, demonstrating their promising application in copper-based radiopharmaceuticals. The high stability of both Cu2+ and Cu+ complexes suggests these sulfur-containing chelators may prevent in vivo demetalation after bioinduced reduction to Cu+.
