H2O2-free photo-Fenton system for antibiotics degradation in water via the synergism of oxygen-enriched graphitic carbon nitride polymer and nano manganese ferrite

Huan Yi et al.

Summary: The use of antibiotics in water has led to the need for effective treatment methods, and photo-Fenton oxidation has emerged as a promising technology. This study successfully constructed a photo-Fenton system using OCN-MnFe2O4 composites, which showed high degradation efficiency for antibiotics without the need for added H2O2. Both radical and non-radical pathways were involved in the degradation process, and the system exhibited excellent stability in different water matrices and in the presence of inorganic salt ions.

Fenton-like degradation of sulfathiazole using copper-modified MgFe-CO3 layered double hydroxide

Nayara de Melo Costa-Serge et al.

Summary: The catalytic activity of layered double hydroxides, with and without copper insertion, was evaluated for the degradation of sulfathiazole. The insertion of copper increased the specific area of the material and degradation kinetics, achieving complete removal of STZ. The presence of Cu(II) and Cu(I) surface sites contributed to the generation of radicals crucial for the degradation process.
