Five New Triene Derivatives from the Fungus Penicillium herquei JX4

Ze-Wu Luo et al.

Summary: Five undescribed triene derivatives and one known compound were isolated from the mangrove endophytic fungus, Penicillium herquei JX4. The structures of these compounds were elucidated using various spectroscopic methods, and their absolute configurations were confirmed by comparing experimental or calculated ECD spectra. Two of the compounds showed inhibitory activities against LPS-induced NO production.

Marine Natural Products as a Source of Drug Leads against Respiratory Viruses: Structural and Bioactive Diversity

Tian-Tian Sun et al.

Summary: Respiratory viruses, such as influenza virus, respiratory syncytial virus, and coronavirus, pose serious threats to human health. Marine organisms are important for discovering effective drugs against these viruses, as they can produce secondary metabolites with novel structures and diverse biological activities. This review discusses the structures and antiviral activities of 167 marine-derived secondary metabolites against respiratory viruses from 1981 to 2019, citing 102 references.
