Overexpressed transient receptor potential vanilloid 1 (TRPV1) in lung adenocarcinoma harbours a new opportunity for therapeutic targeting

Yichu Nie et al.

Summary: This study systematically investigated the expression of TRPV1 in LUAD and its relationship with tumor recurrence and metastasis. The results showed that increased TRPV1 expression was associated with worse overall survival outcome and raised HIF1 alpha levels in LUAD patients. TRPV1 overexpression promoted cell proliferation and migration, and the photothermal effect of CuS-TRPV1 mAb inhibited tumor growth and metastasis.

Summary: Every year, the American Cancer Society projects the numbers of new cancer cases and deaths in the United States, with the latest data showing a significant decline in lung cancer mortality, while prostate cancer mortality has plateaued and breast and colorectal cancer mortality have slowed. Improvements in treatment have accelerated progress against lung cancer, leading to a record drop in overall cancer mortality.

Gene regulation by long non-coding RNAs and its biological functions

Luisa Statello et al.

Summary: Recent studies have shed new light on the biogenesis and functions of long non-coding RNAs (lncRNAs), showcasing their diverse roles in gene regulation and signaling pathways, particularly in the contexts of neuronal disorders, immune responses, and cancer. The discovery of unique biogenesis pathways and subcellular localizations of lncRNAs has opened up potential therapeutic avenues for targeting lncRNAs in various biological and pathophysiological conditions.

Role of lncRNA LUCAT1 in cancer

Ce Xing et al.

Summary: Long non-coding RNAs (lncRNAs) regulate gene expression by interacting with protein, RNA, and DNA, and abnormalities in lncRNAs play a role in tumorigenesis. Specifically, LUCAT1 is highly expressed in various malignant tumors and regulates tumor proliferation and migration through different mechanisms, making it a potential prognostic biomarker and therapeutic target for cancer.
