In this article, we reported a novel persistent luminescence phosphor, BaSiO3:Eu2+,Nd3+,Tm3+, which exhibits excellent long persistent properties. After excited by the sunlight, BaSiO3:Eu2+,Nd3+,Tm3+ phosphors emit intense yellow long persistent emission covering the region from 450 to 700 nm which can last about 10 h. Thermoluminescence curves were used to understand the trapping nature of persistent luminescence. The results show that co- doped ions (Nd3+ and Tm3+) may act as the energy storage centers, and the Eu2+ ions act as the emitters. Also, the corresponding mechanism of afterglow luminescence has been illustrated in detail. (C) 2015 Elsevier Ltd. All rights reserved.
