Summary: In this study, the impact of repeated chest CT scans on the efficiency of DNA double-strand break (DSB) repair was investigated, with repair focus levels reaching up to 30% of those after 2 Gy irradiation and elevated persistent focus levels lasting up to 6 months. This memory effect may reflect a radiation-induced long-term response of cells after low-dose X-ray exposure.
