Polymer microgels for the stabilization of gold nanoparticles and their application in the catalytic reduction of nitroarenes in aqueous media

Muhammad Arif et al.

Summary: Polymer microgels with a polystyrene core and poly(N-isopropylmethacrylamide) shell were synthesized, and gold nanoparticles were successfully incorporated into the shell region. The Au-P(STY@NIPM) system was found to be an efficient and recyclable catalyst for the conversion of nitroarenes to aminoarenes using NaBH4 as a reductant.

Highly Versatile Gum Acacia Based Swellable Microgels Encapsulating Cobalt Nanoparticles; An Approach to Rapid and Recoverable Environmental Nano-catalysis

Muhammad Farooq et al.

Summary: Lyophilic microgels based on Gum Acacia were synthesized at room temperature and normal pressure, and successfully utilized to fabricate GAC-Co nanocomposite microgels. The nano-catalyst GAC-Co microgels showed high efficiency in degrading toxic aromatic compounds and Azo dye in aqueous medium at neutral pH, with the rate constant (k(app)) value increasing with the amount of GAC-Co nanocomposite microgels.

Anionic hydrogel fabricated with metal nanoparticles: highly efficient and easily recyclable catalysts

Hina Naeem et al.

Summary: Poly(methacrylic acid) hydrogels were synthesized using a free radical polymerization process as templates for the synthesis of silver, cobalt, and bimetallic nanoparticles. The loaded metal ions in the hydrogels were treated with a reducing agent to obtain corresponding metal nanoparticles, which were used as catalysts for degrading organic dyes and nitro compounds in contaminated water. Various parameters of the catalysts and their reusability were investigated.

Synthesis, characterization, and biological screening of metal nanoparticles loaded gum acacia microgels

Junaid Ihsan et al.

Summary: Novel gum acacia based microgels composites were reported for multifunctional biomedical applications. The prepared nanocomposites, particularly GNAg microgels, exhibited excellent biomedical properties, including antimicrobial, antioxidant, and antidiabetic activities, as well as good biocompatibility. The in vitro bioassays showed high activity against Fusarium oxysporum and Aspergillus niger, moderate antidiabetic effects, and excellent antioxidant properties for both the GNAg and GNCo nanocomposites compared to pristine GA microgels.
