Analytical investigation of fractional-order Newell-Whitehead-Segel equations via a novel transform

Mounirah Areshi et al.

Summary: In this paper, two different methods are used to find the solution of the time-fractional Newell-Whitehead-Segel equation, which plays an efficient role in describing stripe patterns in nonlinear systems. The proposed methods provide numerical results that are in strong agreement with an exact solution, and the effectiveness of these methods is demonstrated through graphs and tables. Furthermore, the results show that the solution approaches the exact solution as the fractional order tends towards an integer order. The proposed methods are interesting, easy to use, and highly accurate for solving various nonlinear fractional-order partial differential equations.

Analytical solutions of incommensurate fractional differential equation systems with fractional order 1 < α, β < 2 via bivariate Mittag-Leffler functions

Yong Xian Ng et al.

Summary: In this paper, an explicit analytical solution for incommensurate fractional differential equation systems with fractional order 1 < alpha, beta < 2 is derived. This derivation extends a recently published paper by Huseynov et al. in [1], which only applies to incommensurate fractional order 0 < alpha, beta < 1. The incommensurate fractional differential equation systems are first converted into Volterra integral equations. Then, the analytical solution for incommensurate fractional order systems with 1 < alpha, beta < 2 is obtained using the Mittag-Leffler function and Picard's successive approximations. The solution is simplified using combinatorial concepts and bivariate Mittag-Leffler functions. Special cases are discussed and examples are provided.
