Theory of quantum games and quantum economic behavior

Kazuki Ikeda et al.

Summary: This work discusses some fundamental questions of economics in the era of quantum technology, which require a different treatment compared to traditional economics. The study of quantum economic behavior will be a major focus for economists in the future. The article analyzes a quantum economy where players produce and consume quantum goods, and identifies the conditions under which certain quantum goods emerge as mediums of exchange. The distinct aspects of quantum games, compared to classical games, shed new light on mechanism design, auction, and contract theories in the quantum era.

Infinitely repeated quantum games and strategic efficiency

Kazuki Ikeda et al.

Summary: Repeated quantum game theory focuses on the long-term relations among players choosing quantum strategies, especially in the case of infinitely repeated games. A significant difference between repeated quantum games and single-round games is that mutual cooperation may not be an equilibrium strategy when entanglement is strong and rewards are small. This work establishes the concept of general repeated quantum games and presents the Quantum Folk Theorem demonstrating the potential rewards of iterating a game strategy beyond Nash equilibrium.

Quantum contracts between Schrodinger and a cat

Kazuki Ikeda

Summary: Quantum information is seen as an economic commodity, leading to the development of a quantum theory of contracts. A generic quantum protocol for principal-agent relations is formulated within a framework of quantum games, addressing issues of moral hazard and adverse selection. This new theory tackles the challenge of information asymmetry between principals and agents, paving the way for economic activities to be conducted in the complex Hilbert space.
