Integrative RNA-Seq analysis of Capsicum annuum L.-Phytophthora capsici L. pathosystem reveals molecular cross-talk and activation of host defence response

Summary: This study used RNA-seq technology to analyze the defense response of chili pepper against Phytophthora capsici infection. Several genes associated with defense response were identified through transcriptome analysis. The enrichment analysis of the transcripts revealed their involvement in multiple signaling pathways. The differential expression of genes in two contrasting landraces was validated, and several genes associated with defense response were observed. Furthermore, this study also identified several transcription factor families and protein families, with the highest hits in the RI and SI samples.
