K+-induced formation of granular and dense copper phyllosilicate precursor converts dimethyl oxalate to ethylene glycol in absence of H2

Yuan Fang et al.

Summary: The reducibility of heterogeneous Cu-based precursor greatly affects the activity and stability of the final catalysts. In this study, a crystallization inhibition strategy was developed to fabricate a reduction-resistant CuSiO3 precursor, which showed enhanced performance in methanol dehydrogenation and DMO adsorption, leading to the successful synthesis of ethylene glycol.

Life cycle assessment of acetylene production from calcium carbide and methane in China

Suisui Zhang et al.

Summary: This study conducted a life cycle assessment to evaluate the environmental impact of acetylene production methods in China. The partial oxidation method showed the best environmental performance under current electric power generation structure, but with increasing use of renewable energy, the plasma method will eventually have more advantages. The study aimed to compare these methods and provide reference for sustainable development of the acetylene industry in China.

Facile fabrication of degradable polyurethane thermosets with high mechanical strength and toughness via the cross-linking of triple boron-urethane bonds

Chunyang Bao et al.

Summary: This study successfully synthesized degradable polyurethane thermosets with high mechanical strength and toughness, with PTMEG-HDI-BA(1.5) exhibiting optimal performance. The toughness of poly(boron-urethanes) even surpasses that of spider dragline silk. The labile nature of boron-urethanes enables rapid degradation of the materials.
