Colloidal lead-free Cs2AgBiBr6 double perovskite nanocrystals: Synthesis, uniform thin-film fabrication, and application in solution-processed solar cells

Razi Ahmad et al.

Summary: A strategy was proposed for the synthesis and purification of Cs2AgBiBr6 double perovskite nanocrystals, which remained stable even after washing with a polar solvent. The chemical and colloidal stability of Cs2AgBiBr6 was significantly improved by the efficient colloidal route involving stable precursors. Additionally, a compact and crack-free thin film of Cs2AgBiBr6 nanocrystals was successfully fabricated using a layer-by-layer solid-state ligand exchange technique, and perovskite solar cells were fabricated and tested.

Synthetic approaches for thin-film halide double perovskites

Yihui Zhao et al.

Summary: Halide double perovskites, inspired by hybrid organic-inorganic halide perovskite materials, have emerged as non-toxic Pb-free contenders with compositional flexibility for opto-electronic devices. While theoretically predicted to have a large compositional space, the synthesis of stable double perovskite compositions, particularly thin films, lags behind. Successful synthetic approaches for double perovskites are still in their infancy, raising questions about the potential for solution engineering and compositional modifications to match the optoelectronic properties of hybrid perovskites.
