Enhanced photocatalytic activity of two dimensional ternary nanocomposites of ZnO-Bi2WO6-Ti3C2 MXene under natural sunlight irradiation

Vishal Sharma et al.

Summary: The study presents a novel 2D ternary photocatalyst ZnO-Bi2WO6-Ti3C2 prepared through a two-step electrostatic assembly route, which demonstrated high efficiency in degrading the colorless pharmaceutical pollutant ciprofloxacin under natural sunlight irradiation, with a maximum degradation rate of around 77% in 160 minutes. Mechanistic investigation revealed the significant role of MXene in separating photogenerated charges within the photocatalyst.

Binary Au-Cu Reaction Sites Decorated ZnO for Selective Methane Oxidation to C1 Oxygenates with Nearly 100% Selectivity at Room Temperature

Lei Luo et al.

Summary: The study found that using ZnO catalyst with highly dispersed dual Au and Cu species enables efficient and selective conversion of methane to methanol and one-carbon oxygenates at ambient temperature, achieving a high apparent quantum yield of 14.1%. The synergy between Cu and Au promotes O2 activation and methane transformation, highlighting the importance of co-modification with suitable dual cocatalysts for enhancing both activity and selectivity in the process.

Nonoxidative coupling of ethane with gold loaded photocatalysts

Surya Pratap Singh et al.

Summary: This study investigated the direct conversion of ethane to n-butane and hydrogen using gold loaded gallium oxide and titanium dioxide photocatalysts. The Ga2O3 photocatalyst produced n-butane, ethene, and hydrogen with a nearly stoichiometric ratio of products. The addition of gold to the Ga2O3 sample significantly increased the production rate of n-butane, while the addition of gold cocatalyst improved the photocatalytic performance of the TiO2 sample.

Design of noble metal-free NiTiO3/ZnIn2S4 heterojunction photocatalyst for efficient visible-light-assisted production of H2 and selective synthesis of 2,5-Bis(hydroxymethyl)furan

Suman Dhingra et al.

Summary: This work presents the development of noble metal-free NiTiO3/ZnIn2S4 heterojunction photocatalysts for efficient hydrogen production from water and in situ reduction of biomass derivative, 5-hydroxymethylfurfural (HMF), to value-added 2,5-Bis(hydroxymethyl)furan (BHMF). The optimized heterojunction, S3, showed the best photocatalytic activity with a high H2 generation rate and was coupled with the in situ reduction of HMF to achieve high yield and selectivity in BHMF production. The Z-scheme heterojunction between NiTiO3 and ZnIn2S4 played a crucial role in the enhanced photocatalytic activity. This work provides a greener pathway for solar energy harvesting and conversion to chemical energy.
