Complex dynamics of a fractional-order SIR system in the context of COVID-19

Suvankar Majee et al.

Summary: This study proposes and analyzes a new fractional-order SIR type epidemic model with a saturated treatment function. The detailed dynamics of the system, including equilibrium points, existence and uniqueness of solutions, uniform-boundedness, and stability, are studied. The analytical results are validated through numerical works, and Hopf bifurcations of the fractional-order system are explored.

A rumor spreading pairwise model on weighted networks

Wenjun Jing et al.

Summary: This study examines the role of edge weights in the spread of rumors on networks, finding that weight heterogeneity has complex effects on the dynamics of rumor propagation. Increasing weight distribution heterogeneity slows down the growth rate of rumors, decreases the final size and maximum influence, while increasing the duration of spreading. However, changes in both the values and proportions of weights make it difficult to predict the dynamics of rumors based solely on the mean and variance of weight distribution.

Front Propagation of Exponentially Truncated Fractional-Order Epidemics

Afshin Farhadi et al.

Summary: This study investigates the influence of the lambda-truncated fractional-order diffusion operator on the spatial propagation of epidemics caused by infectious diseases. The results show that different asymptotic behaviors of the travelling-wave solutions can be identified depending on the value of lambda.

Mathematical model of SIR epidemic system (COVID-19) with fractional derivative: stability and numerical analysis

Rubayyi T. Alqahtani

Summary: The paper studies the SIR dynamics considering the effect of the health system and proves the existence, uniqueness, and boundedness of the model. It analyzes all possible steady-state solutions and their stability, showing that the free steady state is locally stable when the basic reproduction number is less than 1. The study also explores the model using fractional differential operators and performs numerical simulations to illustrate the theoretical analysis and the impact of parameters for various fractional orders.

Fractional-Order Modelling and Optimal Control of Cholera Transmission

Silverio Rosa et al.

Summary: In this study, a Caputo-type fractional-order mathematical model for metapopulation cholera transmission was analyzed for parameter estimation accuracy. A fractional optimal control (FOC) problem was formulated and solved, followed by a cost-effectiveness analysis to assess control measures. The conclusion was that a variable-order fractional model, termed as the FractInt system, was the most effective for disease control.
