Mohit Kumar et al.

Summary: A hybrid structure of cobalt nanoparticles supported by nitrogen-doped carbon nanotubes has been developed using zeolitic-imidazolate frameworks, demonstrating excellent catalytic performance for both electrochemical hydrogen evolution and chemical reduction. The designed hybrid structure showed a synergistic effect of catalytic active sites in cobalt metal and high conductance of carbon, leading to optimal catalytic activity and long-term stability.

A review of bio-refining process intensification in catalytic conversion reactions, separations and purifications of hydroxymethylfurfural (HMF) and furfural

Jernej Slak et al.

Summary: This review explores the utilization of process intensification (PI) techniques in the biorefining industry for 5-HMF and FUR production and purification, highlighting the potential of reactive extraction in microreactors and other approaches. While mineral acid-catalyzed aqueous systems yield the highest product yields, their purification and recycling are costly and laborious. Solid-acid catalysts in biphasic solvent systems show promise, with NaCl improving extraction power and selectivity. The pervaporation assisted continuous membrane reactor holds potential for large-scale FUR production.

Guangjie Yang et al.

Summary: The combination of active materials and carbon nanotubes (CNTs) using powder electrodeposition technology has been successfully employed to synthesize the NiO-Ni/CNTs composite, resulting in enhanced battery capacity and improved cycle performance. This method provides a new way for the preparation of similar powder composite materials and solves the problem of the traditional electrodeposition process being difficult to apply to powder materials.

Hydrogenation of levulinic acid to γ-valerolactone using carbon nanotubes supported nickel catalysts

Leticia Forrer Sosa et al.

Summary: Carbon nanotubes supported nickel catalysts were evaluated for the hydrogenation of levulinic acid to gamma-valerolactone. The catalysts prepared from nickel nitrate and nickel hydroxide salts showed higher activity compared to those prepared from nickel acetate salts, likely due to better metal dispersion.

Deconstruction of biomass into lignin oil and platform chemicals over heteropoly acids with carbon-supported palladium as a hybrid catalyst under mild conditions

Haichuan Zhang et al.

Summary: This study achieved near-complete conversion of lignocellulosic biomass and high products yields through catalytic transfer hydrogenolysis (CTH) using SiW12 synergistic with Pd/C catalyst. SiW12 exhibited the highest activity on disrupting C-C linkages and C-O linkages, leading to increased monophenols yields. Significant structural changes were observed in lignin oil, and the particle size of feedstock also had a significant impact on the distribution and yields of monophenols.
