Solubility of sinapic acid in some (ethylene glycol plus water) mixtures: Measurement, computational modeling, thermodynamics, and preferential solvation

Faiyaz Shakeel et al.

Summary: The solubility of sinapic acid in {ethylene glycol + water} mixtures was investigated at different temperatures and ethylene glycol mass fractions. Five different models were used to computationally correlate the solubility values, showing good correlations. Thermodynamic research indicated that the dissolution process was endothermic and entropy-driven, with enthalpy-driven process being the main mechanism for solvation. The selective hydration of sinapic acid in water-rich mixtures and preferential solvation by ethylene glycol in specific compositions were also observed.

Research on solubility modelling of actarit in different solvents: Solvent effect, Hansen solubility parameter, molecular interactions and solution thermodynamics

Yang Cong et al.

Summary: Solubility is an important property in the design and development of dosage forms, crystal form screening, and purification and production for pharmaceuticals. This study measured the phase equilibrium solubility of actarit in different solvents and found a positive relationship between solubility and temperature. The influence of solvents' physical properties on solubility was investigated, and solute-solvent interactions were found to have a significant contribution. Thermodynamics models were used to correlate the experimental data, and the best model was determined. The thermodynamic properties of the dissolution process were analyzed and found to be entropy driven and endothermic.

Solubility, Hansen solubility parameter, solvent effect and preferential solvation of benorilate in aqueous mixtures of isopropanol, N,N-dimethylformamide, ethanol and N-methyl-2-pyrrolidinone

Qiang Gao et al.

Summary: This study focused on the equilibrium solubility of benorilate in aqueous binary mixtures of different cosolvents, analyzing solute-solvent and solvent-solvent interactions. The study utilized various solubility models and found that solubility variation was mainly influenced by solubility parameter and dipolaritypolarizability of the systems, with average relative deviations below 9.62%. In addition, preferential solvation of benorilate by the cosolvents was observed, indicating benorilate's role as a Lewis acid in certain composition regions.

Solubility and thermodynamic properties of piperine in (acetone/ethyl acetate plus ethanol) at 278.15 K to 318.15 K and its correlation with the Jouyban-Acree and CNIBS/R-K models

Yufang Wu et al.

Summary: The study examined the effect of cosolvent on the dissolution process of piperine, showing that the solubility of piperine increased first and then decreased with the increasing mass fraction of acetone / ethyl acetate at a certain temperature. Thermodynamic analysis indicated that the dissolution is an endothermic and entropy driven process.

Solubility of coumarin in (ethanol plus water) mixtures: Determination, correlation, thermodynamics and preferential solvation

Sema Akay et al.

Summary: In this study, the equilibrium mole fraction solubility of coumarin in nine aqueous-ethanolic mixtures, water, and ethanol was investigated at various temperatures. The solubility of coumarin was well correlated with established models, and the thermodynamic functions for the dissolution process were computed. The enthalpy-entropy relationship for coumarin showed interesting trends, with different driving mechanisms for solvation in water-rich mixtures and ethanol-rich mixtures.

Evodiamine in several binary aqueous co-solvents: Solubility measurement and modeling, Hansen solubility parameter, preferential solvation and apparent dissolution and transfer properties

Cunliang Zhang et al.

Summary: Equilibrium solubilities of evodiamine were determined in various aqueous mixtures using the shake-flask method, with the dependence on temperature and mixture composition described by different models. The solubility behavior of evodiamine is influenced by factors such as solvent cavity term and dipolarity-polarizability.Selective solvation of evodiamine by different solvents in the mixtures was observed based on the results. Thermodynamic quantities and transfer properties were also calculated and discussed.
