Construction of dual Z-scheme Bi2WO6/g-C3N4/black phosphorus quantum dots composites for effective bisphenol A degradation

Fuyou Du et al.

Summary: A novel dual Z-scheme Bi2WO6/g-C3N4/black phosphorus quantum dots (Bi2WO6/g-C3N4/BPQDs) composite was fabricated and used for the photocatalytic degradation of bisphenol A (BPA) under visible-light irradiation. By optimizing the mass ratio of g-C3N4 and BPQDs in the Bi2WO6/g-C3N4/BPQDs composite, the visible-light harvesting capacity was enhanced and the charge separation efficiency and transfer rate of excited-state electrons and holes were increased, resulting in significantly higher photocatalytic activity for BPA degradation. Radical trapping experiments revealed the crucial roles of photogenerated holes (h+) and superoxide radicals (•O2-) in the photocatalytic degradation of BPA. The possible degradation pathway and photocatalytic mechanism were proposed by analyzing the BPA intermediates. Furthermore, the study demonstrated the stability and promising potential of Bi2WO6/g-C3N4/BPQDs as effective photocatalysts for removing environmental contaminants from real water samples.

Fabrication of g-C3N4/Bi2WO6 as a direct Z-scheme excellent photocatalyst

Ping Zhao et al.

Summary: By incorporating two types of g-C3N4 nanomaterials, namely g-C3N4 quantum dots and g-C3N4 nanosheets, with Bi2WO6, two types of g-C3N4/Bi2WO6 Z-scheme photocatalysts with excellent photocatalytic activity were constructed.
