Facile solid-state synthesis of tetragonal CuFe2O4 spinels with improved infrared radiation performance

Kai Cui et al.

Summary: A universal and simple method was developed for the scalable synthesis of CuFe2O4 samples with spinel structure at low temperatures, with optimal experimental conditions obtained for high infrared emissivity. Under these conditions, CuFe2O4 exhibited high infrared emission values in the wavelength range of 3-5 μm. This work will provide significant guidance for the efficient preparation of spinel materials with excellent infrared emissivity, especially at low temperatures.

Enhancing the photocatalytic performance of surface - Treated SnO2 hierarchical nanorods against methylene blue dye under solar irradiation and biological degradation

V Perumal et al.

Summary: Surfactant-treated tin oxide (SnO2) hierarchical nanorods were successfully synthesized through hydrothermal technique. Analysis results showed that the prepared SnO2 possessed tetragonal rutile structure with good crystallinity and red-shifted visible light absorption band compared to pure SnO2. The as-prepared SnO2 nanorods showed characteristic bands of SnO2 nanostructures, and the morphological analyses revealed hierarchical nanorods and complex nanostructures. The photocatalytic performance of the surfactant-treated SnO2 hierarchical nanorods was evaluated using methylene blue dye removal under direct natural sunlight, and the recycling experiment results and photocatalytic reaction mechanism were also discussed in detail.

Evaluation of visible photocatalytic performance of microwave hydrothermal synthesis of MnO2/TiO2 core-shell structures and gaseous mercury removal

Cheng Xie et al.

Summary: In this study, a MnO2/TiO2 core-shell structured photocatalyst was successfully prepared, and it exhibited excellent catalytic activity under visible light. The MnO2 shell not only enhanced the absorption of the catalyst to visible light, but also increased its specific surface area. The formation of the core-shell heterojunction further promoted the photocatalytic performance.

Size controlled Ag decorated TiO2 plasmonic photocatalysts for tetracycline degradation under visible light

Ruiqi Gang et al.

Summary: Ag-decorated TiO2 plasmonic photocatalysts were successfully fabricated using a facile method. The TiO2/Ag samples exhibited higher photodegradation efficiency and superior stability, which was attributed to the surface plasmon resonance effect and enhanced visible light absorption of Ag nanoparticles. A possible mechanism for the degradation of tetracycline by TiO2/Ag nanocomposites was proposed.
