Synergistic effects of morphological control and enhanced charge collection enable efficient and stable lead-free CsBi3I10 thin film solar cells

Jidong Deng et al.

Summary: Lead contamination and instability of Pb-based perovskite materials limit their application, and there is a need for efficient and stable Pb-free alternatives. CsBi3I10 shows promise as a light absorber, but low-quality films and poor conversion efficiencies hinder its practical use. This study develops a fabrication technology and introduces a molecular additive to enhance the performance of CsBi3I10 thin film solar cells.

Influence of Inorganic NiOx Hole Transport Layer on the Growth of CsBi3I10 Perovskite Films for Photovoltaic Applications

Pandiyarajan Mariyappan et al.

Summary: In this study, spray pyrolysis processed nickel oxide was utilized as a hole transport layer for bismuth halide perovskite-based inverted planar perovskite solar cells. The use of nickel oxide HTL improved the crystallinity of the perovskite layer and reduced the energy-level mismatch at the interface between the perovskite and HTL. The PSCs fabricated with nickel oxide as HTL showed a power conversion efficiency of 0.72% and maintained 85% of its initial efficiency value even after 100 hours of light soaking.

Inorganic and lead-free CsBi3I10 thin-film solar cell prepared by single-source thermal evaporation

Huabin Lan et al.

Summary: This paper successfully prepared layered, high purity, and high crystallinity CsBi3I10 thin films by single-source thermal evaporation deposition, with further annealing improving film crystallinity. The photovoltaic conversion efficiency of perovskite solar cells based on these thin films is high, indicating the potential for high efficiency inorganic lead-free perovskite solar cells.

Summary: This study investigates the structural and optoelectronic properties of a novel lead-free perovskite, showing complete miscibility and band-gap bowing phenomenon. Substitution of Bi with Sb leads to improved device performance through a shift from a strongly bound to a weakly bound excitonic regime.

Performance analysis of lead-free CsBi3I10-based perovskite solar cell through the numerical calculation

Shamim Ahmmed et al.

Summary: This study numerically analyzed the performance of CsBi3I10-based PSCs with different HTLs, revealing that the addition of NiOx HTL can enhance VOC up to 360 mV, but VOC starts to deteriorate significantly when Nt of CsBi3I10 exceeds 1014 cm-3.
