Orthodontic tooth movement alters cementocyte ultrastructure and cellular cementum proteome signature

Elis J. Lira dos Santos et al.

Summary: Cementum, a mineralized tissue that covers tooth roots, and cementocytes, cells within cellular cementum, are hypothesized to play a key role in orthodontic tooth movement. Experimental results showed that during tooth movement, cementocytes undergo apoptosis and lead to root resorption, while also exhibiting increased cellular activity. Proteomic analysis revealed downregulation of certain extracellular matrix proteins during orthodontic tooth movement, along with differential expression of proteins in OTM sites compared to control samples.

Runx1/miR-26a/Jagged1 signaling axis controls osteoclastogenesis and alleviates orthodontically induced inflammatory root resorption

Xiaoge Zhang et al.

Summary: This study identified the crucial role of miR-26a in orthodontically induced inflammatory root resorption, with its overexpression inhibiting osteoclastogenesis and alleviating root resorption. Moreover, Runx1 was found to promote miR26a expression, which in turn suppressed osteoclastogenesis.

Effects of different wavelengths of low-level laser therapy on orthodontically induced inflammatory root resorption in rats investigated with micro - computerized tomography

Hasibe Baser Keklikci et al.

Summary: This research investigated the effects of different wavelengths low-level laser therapies on orthodontically induced inflammatory root resorption (OIIRR) and found that the 532-nm, 650-nm, and 940-nm lasers significantly reduced the volume of OIIRR. The 532-nm laser also reduced the number of lacunae compared to the other groups.

RANKL/OPG ratio regulates odontoclastogenesis in damaged dental pulp

Daisuke Nishida et al.

Summary: The relative ratio of RANKL/OPG plays a significant role in pulpal odontoclastogenesis, with OPG expression not required for maintenance of pulp homeostasis but for protecting pulp from odontoclastogenesis caused by damages.

Transforming Growth Factor-β3/Recombinant Human-like Collagen/Chitosan Freeze-Dried Sponge Primed With Human Periodontal Ligament Stem Cells Promotes Bone Regeneration in Calvarial Defect Rats

Shiyi Huang et al.

Summary: Stem cell therapy has brought hope for cranial defects, especially by promoting osteogenic differentiation through TGF-β3. The bone volume and bone volume fraction were higher in the TRFS-h group than in the controls, accelerating bone repair in calvarial defect rats.

Gamabufotalin Inhibits Osteoclastgenesis and Counteracts Estrogen-Deficient Bone Loss in Mice by Suppressing RANKL-Induced NF-κB and ERK/MAPK Pathways

Kaiqiang Sun et al.

Summary: Osteolytic bone disease, caused by imbalanced bone homeostasis, can lead to high risk of skeletal fragility and fracture in old and postmenopausal women. Previous studies suggest the potential of traditional Chinese medicine gamabufotalin (CS-6) in inhibiting osteolytic conditions.

Magnesium Oxide-Assisted Dual-Cross-Linking Bio-Multifunctional Hydrogels for Wound Repair during Full-Thickness Skin Injuries

Xiaoduo Tang et al.

Summary: The bio-multifunctional hydrogel CCOD-MgO accelerates wound healing through a double cross-linking mechanism, exhibiting high tissue adhesion, self-repair capabilities, and low swelling rate. In vitro experiments show that CCOD-MgO has higher adhesion strength and antibacterial properties compared to other hydrogels, effectively protecting wounds from infection.

Fenugreek steroidal saponins hinder osteoclastogenic bone resorption by targeting CSF-1R which diminishes the RANKL/OPG ratio

Maliha Afroj Zinnia et al.

Summary: This study identified potential oral inhibitors from Fenugreek to lower osteoclastogenic bone resorption, with higher binding affinities and bioavailability than current drugs. The compounds were shown to block signaling pathways, resulting in decreased osteoclast survival, proliferation, and differentiation.
