Impact of Different Physical Exercises on the Expression of Autophagy Markers in Mice

Ana P. Pinto et al.

Summary: This study compared the effects of different exercise protocols on autophagy in the gastrocnemius muscle, heart, and liver of mice, finding that strength exercise altered mRNA expression in the gastrocnemius muscle, concurrent exercise had an anti-increasing effect on autophagy markers, varying effects were observed in the heart, with beneficial effects seen in endurance and strength exercise, and different patterns in autophagy protein levels were found in the liver, possibly related to diabetes, obesity, or liver dysfunction.

Prehabilitative exercise hastens recovery from isoflurane in diabetic and non-diabetic rats

Christopher G. Sinon et al.

Summary: Diabetes is a strong predictor of postoperative delirium and functional decline in older patients undergoing surgery. Exercise is hypothesized to reduce the risk of postoperative cognitive impairments. Prehabilitation with moderate intensity exercise can improve recovery from anesthesia and cognitive function, regardless of metabolic disease status.

The biphasic and age-dependent impact of klotho on hallmarks of aging and skeletal muscle function

Zachary Clemens et al.

Summary: Aging is associated with disrupted information flow and molecular mistakes accumulation. Statistical physics approach can estimate the disorderliness of aging muscle. Network entropy reaches inflection point at old age, leading to structural and functional alterations progressing into oldest-old age.
